There is an exhibition about plastic art in Filles Du Calvaire from 30 November 2011 to 28 May 2012.

All works were designed by Emmanuelle Villard, a very contemporary plastic artist. This time the works do not just exist in the frames but exist among the plastics, glue, patterns and sculptures. Single tiny beads, shimmering powder, geometrical-shaped shiny paillettes and strings of beads, showed us the transformation of luxury appearance.

Emmanuelle Villard used a simple way to express her concept. She drew a background color first, and then smeared glue on the board, stick all the beads onto it to mix them and look beautiful. They just look like paintings and create a dreamy effect. She also uses some special ways to make her works look more different, for example she puts some wrinkle paper on the board then uses the spray paints to spray on the board threw the paper, making beautiful effect .

There are not only some magnificent aesthetic paintings but also very abstract and contemporary works. Emmanuelle Villard prefers to use disorderly things to express the inner world. Face to her works, we will dissociate between charm and repugnance. Her works just look a little bit bizarre, but the very works already changed some feelings in our heart.

In the art world, most of artists are exploring gorgeous works of art. But, we still found the grotesque, freakish, indelicate opus. Those artists are focused on different visions of art. Today, we will recommend two extremes between aesthetic and controversial exhibitions.

“Reminiscent, authentic, eccentric,” the most impressive exhibition is presenting Diane Arbus an American photographer. During this retrospective, approximately 200 photographs are on display from 18 October 2011 to 5 February 2012 in Jeu de Paume in Paris. Particularly, including the famous pictures, the most precious unpublished works also have been showed this time.

Walking through the exhibition, visitors seem to travel back to the sixties of America. Diane Arbus preferred to shoot nudists, female personators, hermaphrodites, amentia and freaks in New York City. She kept recording the most authentic stories. That is why most of the photographs represent the abnormal conditions, behaviors and emotions who are always extremely deformed. However, Arbus insisted on portraying lives in black-and-white tone which embodied the culture in America during that period.

At the exit of the show, there is an independent room to present a brief introduction to Arbus’ background, life experiences and works. Also, we can see her personal cameras she used before. You can sit and read all the books that are displayed on the table. Imagining how she was taking pictures and carefully pondering the exhibition. It feels like peeping into other people’s lives though her pictures. The emotion and action of the past is truly saved in each scene. But, still you will never know the whole story which causes the most fascinating part. Just as she said: A photograph is secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know.”

In Musée Cernuschi we discovered two different exhjibitions. A temporary one and a permanent one.

The first one is a show of paintings from a couple of famous Chinese artists: Xu Beihong, Lin Fengmian, Pan Yuliang, Chang Yu, Zhao Wuji etc. The forms are painting, charcoal drawing to sculpture. For example, the picture on the leftBeng Ma Tu —Xu Beihong  http://www.google.com.hk/imgres?q

The mane of the horse is waving; the tail is flying in the air. We cannot believe it’s only drawn by Chinese brush and ink. You feel like the horse is running out of the paper, to go his own way to a wide grassland.

tThe theme of the other part is "Second Nature", bringing forth integration of western culture and eastern culture with a variety of forms. Walk along the stairs to go up, we arrive to the second floor, the Chinese gallery.  It displays Chinese old vessels which are arranged by the dynasties: The Neolithic Period, The Shang Dynasty, The Zhou Dynasty, The Warring States Period, The Qin Dynasty, The Han Dynasty, Han-Wei-Sui and Tang, The Liao and Song Dynasties etc. It shows vicissitudes based on vessels' shape, material, color and grain. Look at the following wine glasses; does it create an image of celebration in your mind?  If not, maybe you should go and feel the atmosphere yourself.

PhotoHow How can international culture be recognized?  Is that reading more culture books? Is it summarizing and comparing cultures from other countries? Or meeting more friends from overseasMaybe going to cultural themed exhibitions will be a nice choice, here in Paris Museums.

The Petit Palais offers an exhibition on women in India and the evolution of their social status. The exhibition, organized with support from BNP Paribas, in partnership with Reporters sans frontières and Magnum Photos, shows 108 images by six Magnum Photos photographers. Olivia Arthur, Martine Franck, Raghu Rai, Alessandra Sanguinetti, Alex Webb and Patrick Zachmann have each chosen a different subject.

Inspired by the principles of Mahatma Gandhi, Ela Bhatt founded in 1970 the association SEWA. The Self-Employed Women's Association of India (SEWA) is a trade union for poor, self-employed women workers in India.

Karuna Nundy is one of Indian women lawyers. After studying at Columbia University, she practiced law in New York. Finally she decided to return to India and runs her own law firm.

The exhibition Women Changing India discovers these students, women, lawyers, taxi drivers, farmers, entrepreneurs and a filmmaker who have been able to make their own destiny. In India, women have always been dominated by men. This exhibition may help to increase the confidence of women but on the other hand, the slightly depressing side of it is that the photographers participating are all male.

Women Who Changed Indiais an exhibition we strongly recommend to see but one must keep in mind that its aim is an empowerment of women in a society where they were never free to do what they always wanted.

Furry fur

无标题4-1无标题4-2

The younger girl is mixing fur jacket with skinny jeans, converse shoes and a nice leather bag to make her style more street like, while the older lady uses a fur coat as a matching black and white outfit trying to look young especially with her ear muffs.

In the streets of Paris, the senior citizens have their own flair toward fashion. They are fashionable but not being fashion forward. They are comfortable with their own developed style. They still want to be noticeable and do not let aging get in the way. As for the younger ones, lots of them adapt styles which is in the now, they have good sense of mix and match and create something of their own but still popular among the crowds. All in all, Paris is still a fashionable city for all ages.
